After teaching Middle School and High School in the Sacramento area for 10 years, my husband and I returned to Butte County in 2014 to raise our family.  Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to work with schools in Butte County who are implementing thriving Career Technical Education programs.

Jennie Marsh

2nd Grade Teacher
I have been teaching in Chico Unified for over 18 years with this being my 6th year of working with Independent Study elementary students. Prior to Independent Study, my more traditional classroom experiences included teaching all grade levels from Tk to 8th Grade. I appreciate being a part of the Oak Bridge Academy community which includes hard working, caring staff and involved, supportive families!

Dawn Davis

6th-8th Grade Teacher
Middle school students are my favorite! For two decades, I have worked with pre-teens-- improving academic achievement, encouraging self-esteem, and refining the varied strengths within my diverse classroom communities.

Katherine (Kate) Landry

1st Grade Teacher
I have always been an avid learner, and I'm excited to be on Oak Bridge team as a first-grade teacher this year.  My husband teaches at Butte College, and my daughter is a lively first-grader, just like my students.  My interests outside of school include spending time with family, playing and writing music, hobby gardening and spending time outside, especially at the beach or in the woods.

Shawna Murawski

Kindergarten Teacher
I taught for 3 years in Sacramento, but have had classroom experience in San Francisco, Boston and now Chico.  I have taught 7th grade math and science and kindergarten.  I am so happy to be a part of this community.

Lisa Hanko

5th Grade Teacher
After teaching my child via a public homeschool charter, and substitute teaching K-12 for a dozen years, I have been lead teacher in TK and 5th grades. I have returned to Chico, my alma mater, and am thrilled to work with wonderful staff at Oak Bridge in the Chico Unified District!

Elizabeth Hankins

Secondary Teacher
I am excited to be working at Oak Bridge Academy with amazing colleagues and wonderful students and families. I have been working in the education field as a secondary teacher for the past 20 years. My teaching experience includes working in both the traditional and alternative education settings. My subject areas of expertise are in the sciences. I have taught classes in Biology, Physics, Earth and Space Science, and Chemistry. My degree is in Wildlife, Fisheries, and Conservation Biology from UC Davis. My previous career was working as Wildlife Biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. I still enjoy watching wildlife while out exploring the outdoors with my husband and two daughters.

Aaron Bayless

5th Grade Teacher
I grew up in Santa Maria, California. After graduating from Santa Maria High, I served in the US Marine Corp receiving the Middle East conflict badge. I entered retail upon leaving the military but eventually decided to college to peruse my passions: Musical Theater and Teaching. I think one of the primary reasons I want to be an elementary school teacher is that I remember when I was going through elementary school, I really wished I had a male teacher. It is important to have a diverse learning environment in order to destroy stereotypes and cultural understanding.

Nicholas Grubiss

Elementary Resource Specialist
In my 3 years as a special educator I have taught students across the entire k-12 special education span and in most educational settings as a Resource Teacher and an Alternative Education Teacher. I have taught Math, English, History, and am knowledgeable in most reading intervention programs. I came to the North State to run collegiately for Chico State as dual athlete in Cross Country and Track & Field and remain active in the running and hiking community. I am excited to be a resource for the Oak Bridge Community!

Jessica Alchin

2nd/3rd Grade Teacher
I have worked in education for over 12 years. My experience spans Preschool - 8th grade. I have worked in general education classes, mixed grade level classes, and special education classes. My two children currently attend CUSD schools. Chico has been my hometown for nearly 23 years.
I truly believe each student has the potential to succeed with their education, given the right encouragement and support. I am excited to be part of such a caring and diverse team of teachers at Oak Bridge Academy.

Luke Peasha

Secondary Teacher
I have been teaching in Chico for the last 5 years. I moved to Chico to attend CSU Chico, where I met my wife and never left the area. I majored in Mathematics Education and have continued my education throughout the last three years. I have a one-year old son and love to spend time with my family.

Willow DeFranco

3rd/4th Grade Teacher
She is a graduate of Chico State and returned to the area two years ago.  This is her 16th year teaching mostly in 3rd and 4th grade in Nevada County.    She loves teaching all the subjects, especially math, literature, and writing.  What she looks forward to most this year is supporting students' emotions by teaching social emotional skills and including times for students to shine and share with their peers.    In her spare time she enjoys cooking, hiking, traveling, arts and crafts.
